KEBBI GOVERNOR'S WIFE HAJIYA NAFISA NASIRU IDRIS VOWS TO ELIMINATE VVF IN KEBBI STATE... PROMISES COLLABORATION WITH EXPERIENCE NGO(FISTULA CARE KEBBI) TO GET MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

The wife of the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Her Excellency Hajiya Nafisa Nasiru Idris pledged to do anything humanly possible to eliminate Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF) in nooks and crannies of Kebbi State.

Hajiya Nafisa made the peledge on Tuesday 19/09/2023 in a courtesy visit paid to her by FISTULA CARE KEBBI, a famous NGO with vast experience spanning for over 20 years in VVF and related diceases under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yusuf 

Obstetric Fistula alias VVF is an abnormal communication between the bladder or recturn and the extroitus which makes the woman continuously and involuntarily leak urine or feaces respectively.

The main cause of Obstetric Fistula (VVF) in Nigeria is prolonged labour and harmful traditional practices known in Hausa as 'Yankan gishiri or 'yankan gurya'.

Opening between a female Virgina and bladder, sore and pain during intercourse are the the sign of VVF, any woman experience these is advise to report to appropriate authority to save her life, because VVF can be treated and cured successfully.

Tears almost filled Hajiya Nafisa's eyes when Dr. Abdullahi Hussaini senior official in the program; MOMENTUM engenderhealth project, USAID in Kebbi State and Dr.Amina Usman Bello President of VVF Hospital in Kebbi State narrated to her the trauma patients of VVF went through, such as stigmatization, phycological problems and total lost of hope.

She promise to come in and stand as a mother to all VVF Patients in Kebbi State by providing them with all necessary support and assistance they may required.

 

She on the spot promised to install a solar powered system and renovate the vocational training center of VVF Center in Birnin Kebbi.

Her Excellency Nafisa also promised to support anything that has to do with maternal and child's health in the state.

THE ROLES EXPECTED OF THE NGO (FISTULA CARE KEBBI)

Speaking on behalf of the visiting NGO Dr. Abdullahi Hussaini (Senior clinical associate with EngenderHealth Kebbi State, who's implementing the MOMENTUM Safe project, sponsored by USAID) inform Her Excellency that with her support FISTULA CARE KEBBI will take sensitization campaign in all the four- cardinal points of Kebbi State till the last patient is reached, treated and healed.

He highlighted 4 plan of action intended to be executed by FISTULA CARE KEBBI in collaboration with Her Excellency as follows:

1- SENSITIZATION: The NGO Plan visiting all 4 Emirates/Emirs and Religious leader as well as Community leaders

2- PUBLICITY: The NGO intended produced billboards, flyers,songs, jingles in major languages in Kebbi State. As well as organizing numerous Radio and TV educative and informative programmes related to VVF.

3-ADVOCACY VISIT: The NGO intended to visit all stakeholders including religious, community and traditional leaders.

4- FISTULA DAY: The NGO intended to introduce Fistula Day first of its kind in Kebbi State. December,2023 is reserve for the event.

HER EXCELLENCY GIVE MARCHING ORDER TO FISTULA CARE KEBBI

In her natural behavior of taking quick action on anything has to do with women life, Her Excellency Hajiya Nafisa Nasiru Idris order the NGO ( FISTULA CARE KEBBI) to quickly start sensitization campaign by composing jingles and other enlightenment campaign so that all VVF victim in nooks and crannies of Kebbi State can be reached and treated accordingly.

She also pledged to partner the NGO and provide them with all the necessary support they may required.

The wife of the Governor, Her Excellency Nafisa Nasiru Idris was accompanied into the meeting by wife of the Secretary to the State Government,Hajiya Asma'u Alkali among other women leaders.
