KEBBI GOVT SUSPENDS MINING ACTIVITIES 

GOV. IDRIS TAKES A DECISIVE DECISION FOR THE INTEREST OF THE STATE, SUSPENDS MINING ACTIVITIES ACROSS THE STATE

The Executive Governor of Kebbi State, His Excellency Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu) has suspend all mining activities in the State until further notice.

Announcing the decisive decision in a press conference held in his office, Friday 22/09/2023 the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala (Tafidan Yauri) said Gov. Idris made a difficult but inevitable decision to suspend all mining activities until further notice as a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of local communities and the mining workers as well.

Lack of verifiable evidence of corporate social responsibilities on the part of miners, total absence of accruable revenue to State and Local Government,lacks of requisite permit, environmental impact and above all security threat were some of the miner's sins force the state to take this precautionary measure.

The security agencies in the State are given marching order to do the needful and ensure total compliance with this decision.

The SSG, said " Security agents are hereby directed to ensure strict compliance to the suspension of the mining activities until further notice"
