KANGIWA: The Unsung Hero

MEET THE UNSUNG HERO: ASSOCIATE PROF. GARBA KANGIWA, A MAN WHO SECURES JOB TO MORE THAN 100 YOUTHS WITHOUT KNOWING THEIR PARENTS

Associate Professor Garba Abdullahi Kangiwa, the Head Of Department, Department of Sociology, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi is a Man of an invaluable asset to not only the people of Kangiwa but Kebbi State as a whole.

His sympathy of common man make him to take it upon himself to selflessly cater for the welfare of their children at expense of his own comfort.

He left a legacy that only God Almighty can pay him back.

So far so good in the life journey of Dr. Garba Kangiwa, he was blessed with about 12 children, and surprisingly all of them are very brilliant, about 5 of them graduated with good grades, indication that God is paying him right in his home.

Little wonder it become a tradition to numerous groups and associations in Kangiwa keep awarding and honouring Dr. Kangiwa almost  on annual basis perhaps to motivate him to forge ahead and also draw the attention of others to emulate him.

From the records Dr. Garba Kangiwa has so far facilitated the engagement of more than 100 youths into different  Federal Ministries Departments and Agencies nation wide, including the Military, Police and other para military.

At Police Service Commission when he was on secondment of service, he has assisted more than 30 youths with employment either as cadet ASPs or Inspectorate cadre in both regular and the professional services of the Nigeria Police Force. Currently some of these young officers rose through the ranks to the positions of DSPs and SPs, InshaAllahu some of them would become Commissioners, AIGs, DIGs or even IGP in the future.

In the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET) Dr. Kangiwa sow about 15 youths in this Agency. In the Federal Character Commission, Dr. Kangiwa facilitated the engagement of more than 10 youths. Same story at Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) 11 youths secure job through Dr. Kangiwa. Move to Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) 10 youths were engaged by Dr. Kangiwa

Others Agency where Dr. Kangiwa facilitated the engagement of many youths were National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Police Service Commission (PSC), FRSC, National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) National Commission for Refugees, UDUTH Sokoto and now Federal University, Birnin Kebbi among others.

He also facilitated the admission of hundreds of youth in both his former Institution, Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi and his current Institution, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi.

Associate Professor Kangiwa holds PhD in Sociology with specialization in criminology from the University of Abuja, Nigeria. His research interests include tourism and recreation, gender issues, social problems, urban safety, security and development studies.

He published many books, articles in international and local journals.

He is a member of many national and international professional associations including Nigeria Anthropological and  Sociological Practitioners Association (NASA), Nigeria Society for Criminology (NSC) among others.

He is also the traditional titles holder of SARKIN KUDUN Chibike in Arewa local government, Kangiwa.

He served at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, Federal Character Commission, Police Service Commission and currently he is Associate Professor of Criminology and HOD, Department of Sociology, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi.

He is happily married to two wives and blessed with many children.

May the Almighty Allah keep blessing Dr. Garba Abdullahi Kangiwa, a Professor in the making InshaAllahu.
