SMC Success Story In Kebbi State
SMC: Kebbi Records 94% Coverage of Target Children in 2024 As Commences 2025 Campaign
The Kebbi State program on Seasonal Malaria Chemo prevention (SMC) said it has successfully administered SMC drugs to 94% of targeted children 3 to 59 months of age in 2024 campaign.
This success story was revealed by the State Program Manager Dr. Ashiru Mustapha in a media parly held on Wednesday 9th July, 2025 in Birnin Kebbi.
Dr. Ashiru attribute Kebbi SMC achievements to the cooperation received from the State Government, stakeholders and concerted effort of the Project staff.
He announced the commencement of 2025 campaign to begin on 10th July and end on 13th July, 2025 targeting over 1 million eligible children to receive about 6 million blister of SPAQ across 866 designated health facilities in 21 local government areas in Kebbi State.
Speaking at parly, the supply Chain Officer of Kebbi SMC, Daniel Oguche solicited for media support and cooperation to sensitized and enlightened the public about impact of SMC drugs.
Similarly, the behavioral change officer of the project, Alhaji Kabiru A. Masama enjoy all the invited media house to create a special program aimed at enlightened the public especially the parents on the importance of SMC drugs.
The media parley provided a platform for stakeholders to share experiences, challenges, and best practices in implementing SMC programs, ultimately contributing to the national goal of eliminating malaria
The event brought together prominent media houses in Kebbi State such as Equity FM, Nagari FM, Vision FM, Rayhan FM, Kebbi Radio, Kebbi TV, Equity TV, Kebbi-Trust Online newspaper among others.
