Engr. Ahmad Umar Farouk Joins National Leaders to Welcome Super Falcons, Commends Team’s Historic WAFCON Victory
Yersterday, Engr. Ahmad Umar Farouk, Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and traditional titleholder Danmajen Gwandu / Gamjin Kabi, joined top government officials and jubilant citizens at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to welcome Nigeria’s Super Falcons following their triumphant win at the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The MD, alongside the Honourable Minister of Aviation, state governors, other cabinet ministers, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), participated in the high-profile reception for the Falcons, who secured a stunning 3–2 comeback victory over host nation Morocco—sealing Nigeria’s record 10th WAFCON title.
Engr. Farouk commended the Super Falcons for their exceptional display of strength, resilience, and national pride, describing their win as “a symbol of hope, unity, and the rising excellence of Nigerian women on the global stage.”
He further applauded the Federal Government’s recognition of the team’s achievement, which included the conferment of national honours (OON), monetary rewards, and housing gifts by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during a special reception at the Presidential Villa.
“Moments like this remind us of the unifying power of sports and the need to continue investing in our youth, especially women, who continue to make Nigeria proud,” Engr. Farouk said.
His presence at the reception reflects his enduring commitment to national development, youth empowerment, and the promotion of excellence across sectors, including sports.
