Kebbi First Lady Gets Another Appointment

The Wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, has received an investiture as the new patron of the National Council for Women's Societies, NCWS, Kebbi State branch.

At the ceremony this Monday in Birnin Kebbi, the state vice president, Hajiya Hadiza Kola, was also sworn in as the new substantive state president following the appointment of former president, Halima Hassan Kamba as a Commissioner, in consonance with the constitution of the council.

Speaking after her investiture, the wife of the governor, thanked members of the NCWS, and the National President, Lami Lau, for bestowing such honour on her.

Hajiya Zainab Nasare appealed to the National President to always inform her of activities of the council at the national level, pledging to offer the necessary support to boost the humanitarian affairs of the NCWS.

"The NCWS was established long time ago for women emancipation and empowerment in the country, the council has performed creditably, we in Kebbi state would uphold the spirit of service to the people", she declared.

"I will evolve new programmes and measures to assist women including those with special needs and children in the state", Hajiya Nasare added.

She solicited for fervent prayers from the people for the success of the administration of her husband to serve the citizenry under good governance.

The National President of the NCWS, Lami Lau who performed the investiture on Hajiya Zainab Nasare as the new patron, urged her to uphold the culture of benevolence and empowerment to women already in place under her office as the First Lady.

Lami Lau explained the constitutional provisions of the NCWS on ascension to power and appointment of Patron, saying the investiture of Hajiya Zainab Nasare as patron and the swearing in of Hadiza Kola as the new state president were in consonance with the constitution.

In a remark, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Maikurata, gave an assurance that the Ministry would continue to work in synergy with the NCWS towards achieving its mandate of service to humanity.

On her part, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, extolled the qualities of Hajiya Zainab Nasare, the wife of the governor, in uplifting the living condition of the people of Kebbi State, with emphasis on women and children.
