RE-ARREST AND DETENTION OF SOCIAL CRITIC/ ACTIVIST AND WHISTLE BLOWER MUHAMMAD MAHADI SHEHU

Our attention has been drawn to a publication in some of the National dailies and online media with the above caption, regarding the arrest and detention of self-proclaimed whistleblower Muhammad Mahadi Shehu.

In the concocted story apparently influenced by Mahadi and his conspirators, the self proclaimed whistle blower was said to have been arrested in Abuja on a petition written by the Former Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami. 

The fact that the circumstances of the arrest and it’s undertones were distorted makes it compelling and necessary to set the record straight by way of this release.

It may interest the public to know that Mahadi Shehu Katsina was arrested by the security operatives during a sting operation to uncover a syndicate of fraudsters that  invaded the e-mail accounts of Mr Malami and his family members and extracted documents and information that were eventually used as tools of blackmail and extortion against the family members.

Contrary to the insinuation by Mahadi's Lawyers that he was arrested in connection with whistleblowing in his hotel room as a result of the petition on alleged email hacking and extortion, Mahadi Shehu turns out to be the principal character and a member of the syndicate that dubiously contacted Dr. Malami claiming that he had some documents exposing acts of corruption perpetrated at the Ministry of Justice when Malami was the Minister threatening to make them public if the former Minister refused to give them hundreds millions of Dollars to conceal the information. He was in fact the lead figure that showed up to collect the “settlement fees” upon concluded negotiations.

The operation was organized by the police upon complaint by Dr. Malami’s solicitors having been convinced that their client had nothing to hide arising from his tenure as the Minister of Justice.

The security agencies who were therefore notified about the hacking, threats, intimidations and planed extortion immediately swung into action there by arranging a sting operation which eventually led to the arrest of the dubious, fraudulent and self-proclaimed whistleblower Mahadi Shehu Katsina at Summerset continental Hotel Maitama Abuja while waiting to collect the sum of 500,000  USD he demanded from the Fmr AGF in order to conceal the  purported information.

  Mahadi Shehu was in possession of some documents, inclusive of the ones used by the syndicate to open an account in the name of a family member, which account was presumably meant to be used in lodging the proceeds of criminality and extortion. The family member did not authorize the opening of the account opened by the syndicate of which Mahadi was an apparent member. 

That lend credence to yet another fraudulent activities of  hacking and financial improprieties affecting the families of fmr AGF Malami especially his spouse Hajiya Aisha Abubakar Malami where by Mahadi syndicate scammed and  swindle people of their hard earned money in the name of Haj Aisha Abubakar Malami. The syndicate further used the extracted details from her account to gain access to her account and unlawfully withdrew over N16,000,000.00 there from.

It may interest the public to note that Mahadi Shehu is being investigated for being an arrow head of a criminal syndicate group that specialized in hacking, blackmail and extortion and indeed runs a syndicate whose members  are currently on the run as a result of their nefarious activities of blackmailing people of goodwill in the name of whistleblowing.

Mahadi Shehu has been very popular in defaming and tarnishing the image of politicians, especially the former president Muhammad Buhari and the incumbent President Bola Ahmad Tinubu.

Without prejudice to the ongoing police investigation,all the documents retrieved from Mahadi Shehu and his syndicate are there with police for any groups or individuals to verify.

We therefore urge the general public to support and allow the police do their work thoroughly. 

 If Mahadi Shehu has any explanation to make regarding his nefarious activities he should do so to the security Agencies not on pages of newspapers and social media propaganda.
