Governor's Wife, Zainab, commends PCRC for crime Prevention and Control.

The wife of KebbI State Governor Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris has expressed satisfaction about the work of Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, on crime prevention and control.

Hajiya Zainab Nasare who is the National Matron of the PCRC, made the remark at her residence in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday when the National Chairman of the Committee in company of the newly inaugurated Executive Members of the PCRC, Kebbi State Command, visited her.

She commended members of the committee for a job well done, pledging to sustain the provision of necessary moral and material support to the PCRC to function effectively.

The new Chairman of Kebbi State Command of the PCRC, Dr. Saratu Muhammad Mera, informed the wife of the governor whom she described as her mentor that, the members would embark on visits to schools to launch PCRC clubs, starting with primary schools, as part of sensitisation campaign against social vices.

In addition, the PCRC would join hands with the state government and other stakeholders aimed at overcoming the challenges of security.

In her remark, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, gave an assurance of facilitating the creation of PCRC clubs in schools which she described as apt and timely in view of the social malaise and indiscipline among pupils and students.

Dr. Halima  Bande believed that crime and criminality resulting to insecurity were nurtured by  indiscipline and drug abuse among others.

She equated services of the PCRC as service to GOD and humanity desired to cleanse the society.

Earlier, the National Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem  Olaniyan, thanked the wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, for her support to the committee to perform its functions with success.

Mogaji formally invited Hajiya Zainab Nasare to attend the fortieth anniversary of the PCRC in Abuja scheduled for May, this year, saying that the wife of the governor has also been appointed as the National Matron of the PCRC for Women, Youths, and the PCRC in Nigeria and in the Diaspora.

He informed her that the PCRC has more than forty million members in Nigeria and globally.

The National Chairman described the newly inaugurated Chairman of the committee in Kebbi State, Dr. Saratu Mera as highly capable and the first female to hold the position in Northern Nigeria.

Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan has earlier presided over the inauguration of 25 new Executive Members of the PCRC, KebbI State Command at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi.

Among those who addressed the gathering at the inauguration  ceremony, were the representative of Governor Nasir Idris, the Commissioner for Home Affairs and Internal Security, Alhaji Samaila Yakubu Augie and the deputy National Chairman North, Hajiya Rafa'atu Hammani.
