AGILE RESUMES OPERATION IN KEBBI STATE
GOV.IDRIS TO CONSTRUCT 120 NEW SCHOOLS; UPGRADES 45 JSS TO SSS VIA AGILE PROJECT___Pledges Mega Schools In Four Emirates In The State
The Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) announced his government resolution to construct 120 new schools State wide. He also approved the upgrading of 45 Junior Secondary Schools to Senior Secondary Schools across the state, he further pledged to construct world standard mega school in Gwandu, Argungu, Yauri and Zuru Emirates.
Governor Idris revealed these ambitious policies in education sector on Saturday 9/12/2023 at Bubuce town of Augie local government on Ground breaking ceremony of the construction of Secondary Schools, classrooms across Kebbi State.
Governor Idris explained that Education remain the most area of priority in his administration and he will do anything humanly possible to improve the standard of education in Kebbi State.
He commended the AGILE Staff for their hard work and patriotism which resulted in achieving so much within a reasonable time.
Highlighting the success of AGILE Project so far, Governor Idris said the project success in increasing the school enrollment of girls child by 40%, improve infrastructure to more than 300 Schools through both small grant and big grant allocation.
He promise to increase the number of school enrollment by much higher than what recorded now by payment of N8,000 to more than 40,000 Students across the state.
Governor Idris also used the occasion to announce that AGILE Project is not a grant but a refundable loan; not withstanding he commend world Bank for providing the facilities.
Speaking earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala (Tafidan Yauri) explain in details the number of schools to be upgraded from Junior Secondary Schools to Senior secondary schools state wide totalling about 45 Schools.
On his part the AGILE Project Coordinator, Muhammad Aliyu Birnin Kebbi thank Governor Idris for his total support to Kebbi AGILE Project and promise to justify the confidence repose on him and his SPIU staff by His Excellency.
He also briefly highlighted the success story of Kebbi-AGILE so far which included the construction of classrooms, VIP toilets, Administrative blocks, laboratory, multipurpose Hall among others in Jss and SSS Schools across the state.
He also said more than 10,000 students benefits from cash incentive of the Programme.
In his closing remarks, the Emir of Argungu, His Royal Highness, Dr. Sama'ila Muhammad Mera thank Gov. Idris for choosing his domain to flag off this historic giant stride in education sector in Kebbi State.
He opined that what ever any students achieve through this initiative the credit goes to His Excellency Dr Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu).
He enjoyed all the good people of Argungu Emirate and Kebbi State at large to enroll their children to school especially girls child.
The event was attended by many prominent personalities in all angles of human endeavor in Kebbi State.
