KEBBI: Youths' Commissioner Hits The Ground Running

MY COVENANT WITH KEBBI STATE YOUTHS:

HON. COMMISSIONER, KEBBI STATE, MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS DEVELOPMENT.

 PREAMBLE:

My fellow great youths of our beloved State (Kebbi), it is with great pleasure I present to you my blue print as Hon. Commissioner of the great Ministry of Youth and Sports Development which interestingly coincide with manifestos of His Excellency, Dr. Nasiru Idris ( Kauran Abdullahin Gwandu), the Executive Governor of Kebbi State towards youth development.

His Excellency, Dr. Nasiru Idris whom himself a fellow youth prioritize the issues of youth development in all ramifications ranging from appointment to the execution of numerous projects. So far the contractors and potential beneficiaries of such ongoing projects were mostly youths.

Still under Kauran Abdullahin Gwandu's administration for the first time Kebbi State Ministry of Youth is to be headed by youth in the person of my humble self, this is clear indication of good things to happen to our teeming and valuable youths.

My blue print which coincide with manifestos of His Excellency Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Abdullahin Gwandu) on Kebbi State youths can be summarize in two ways:

1- Creation of jobs for the unemployed youths

2-Promotion of Sports and cultural activities within Kebbi State and beyond.

BRIEF ON THE KEBBI STATE MINSTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development came into existence since the creation of Kebbi State in the year 1991 by the administration of Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.

VISION:

To develop a youth base system aimed at empowering and projecting the talents and sporting potentials that are abound in Kebbi state. And also portray the sporting and cultural potentials in Kebbi State to Nigeria in particular and the world in general.

MISSION:

To discover hidden talents that is spread across Kebbi state for podium heights and

use sport as a means of revenue generation and empowerment of the youths in order to enable the state participate in local, national and international sporting programs.

MY ACTION PLAN :

 I intend to achieve the following within reasonable time inline with His Excellency Dr. Nasiru Idris and our great party APC agenda on youth development:

-To organize sporting activities for the target audience as a strategy to create enabling environment for peaceful co-existence among the youth and people of different ethno-religious strata.

-To engage the youth in youthful programs in collaboration with other ministries, Departments and Agencies.

-To interface between the government and the target audience in youthful related programs

 

MY AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

In cordial working relationship with staff of the ministry, I hope to achieve the following objectives:

-To create a peaceful atmosphere for Youths of different values, faith and beliefs.

-Creation of jobs for the unemployed youths.

-Enhancing the health factor of our teeming youths.

-Breaking barriers and stereotype through social cohesion.

-To boost the confidence of our valuable youths to meet their full potentiality.

-Bringing the government closer to our Youths for participation in government policies and programs.

 

 

PROJECTIONS/ PROPOSE PROJECTS

In line with the Ministry’s major aim and objective of the development of Youth and Sports in all aspects through various Youth and Sports activities, I projected to achieve the following projects:

1- Upgrading of Haliru Abdu City stadium, Birnin Kebbi

2- Construction of 3 Mini stadium among the 3 Senatorial District in the State

3- Construction multipurpose sport hall in all the 21 local government in Kebbi State

4- Construction of Game village in State Capital, Birnin Kebbi

5- Construction of new youth centres in each of the four (4) Emirate in the State: Gwandu, Argungu, Yauri and Zuru Emirates

6- Purchase of Sport Equipments for distribution among many different youths sporting group

7- Upgrading of NYSC camp in Dakingari 

8- Purchase of capital equipment for stadium

9- Prompt assistance to NYSC Corps members on camp

10-Training of youth on skllls acquisition and empowerment in collaboration With both State and Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies such as SMEDAN, NDE, Industrial Training Fund (ITF) etc in areas of carpentry, welding/fabrication electrical installations, driving, cosmetics among others marketable skills.

CONCLUSION:

I used this opportunity to once again thank His Excellency Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Abdullahin Gwandu) for given this ample opportunity to serve my beloved State.

I solicit the cooperation of all and sundry especially the various youth leaders in delivering what is expected of me on this assignment reposed to us by H.E Kauran Abdullahin Gwandu.

The above highlighted proposed policies and programmes cannot be achieved without support and cooperation of the staff of Kebbi State, Ministry of Youths And Sports Development, as such I solicit the cooperation of all staff right from Permanent Secretary down to the last staff of the ministry to achieve this noble course, so that together we can take the ministry to the greater heights.
