KEBBI GETS NEW COMMISSIONERS

NEW CABINETS: HON. MUSLIM, NURA FINGILLA,14 OTHERS MAKES THE LIST.......AS GOV. IDRIS AWARDS N9BILLION CONTRACT FOR MODERNIZATION OF THE STATE CAPITAL.

The business of governance in Kebbi State commence comprehensively with appointment of key aides such as Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, chief press Secretary, Advisers and now commissioners.

Recall, last months the state Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Nasiru Idris announced the appointment of Alhaji Bala Tafidan Yauri, Barrister Attahiru Maccido, Ahmed Idris as Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Chief Press Secretary respectively.

Shortly, Gov. Idris announce the appointment of more than 30 Senior Special Advisers (SSA).

The unveiling of the nominated commissioners indicate total take off of the government daily business.

The new commissioners as contains in the letter sent to the State House of Assembly for confirmation are:

2-Engr. Hon. Abdullahi Umar Faruk Muslim
3-Alh. Musa Muhammad Tungulawa
4- Comrade Nura Bala Fingilla
5- Muhammad Dangi Juli
6-Kabir Usman Alarama
7-Haliru Muhammad Wasagu
8- Shehu Mu'azu
9-Hayatu Bawa Jega
10- Isah Abubakar
11- Yanusa Musa Isma'il
12- Garba Salihu Takware
13- Yanusa Musa Isma'il
14- Dr. Abba Sani Kalgo
15- Muhammad Hamidu Jar kuka

ABSENT OF WOMEN IN THE LIST

The exclusion of women in the list raise concern especially among numerous women activist within and outside the state. Some are asking for the fate of Kebbi State Ministry of Women Affairs; would a man be appointed to preside over the ministry?, remain to be seen.


MODERN KEBBI PROJECT

In another development, His Excellency the Governor of Kebbi, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu has awarded the contract for the rehabilitation of Birnin Kebbi township roads.

The project is a clear testimony of Comrade Dr Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu's determination to beautify the State capital in fulfilment of his campaign promises.

The state government signed the contract with Habib Engineering Nigeria Limited of more than nine billion naira for the rehabilitation of city centre roads in the capital Birnin Kebbi.

The acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport, Arc. Sa'adu Musa Sakaba signed on behalf of the government while the General Manager of the company, Mr. Ammar Nouri initialled for the firm. The project entails the rehabilitation of 15 kilometres of road in the city from NNPC mega station through Emir Haruna road to Haliru Abdu round about extending to AP 2 round about to be completed in 18 months. Also to be provided are solar street lights and drainages. 

At the signing ceremony in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, said the work was in furtherance of efforts by his administration to give the state capital a befitting status like other capitals nationwide. The governor warned the ministry of transport and the contracting firm to adhere strictly to specifications and the contract agreement. 


ABANDONED NEW SECRETIRIAT TO BE COMPLETED

Similarly, His Excellency Dr. Nasir Idris announced that another contract would be signed next week for the completion of the new State Secretariat under construction inherited by incumbent administration. In addition, the government would embark on the rehabilitation of schools and hospitals as well as the construction of new ones where necessary. He made emphasis that the administration has attached utmost importance to educational development and the provision of quality health care services to the populace. 

The governor affirmed commitment to upholding the legacy of prompt payment of salary to workers, gratuity and pension to retired staff. Dr. Nasir Idris said projects beneficial to all communities would be executed in the three senatorial zones of the state without disparity or consideration of party affiliation to enable the citizenry enjoy the dividends of democracy.
