NAMA MD, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, Graces Turbaning of Dr. Aminu Haliru Bunza as Sarkin Bunza

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, FNSE, FCIA, MCOREN, NPOM (Danmajen Gwandu/Gamjin Kabi), on Saturday joined other eminent personalities at the official turbaning ceremony of Dr. Aminu Haliru Bunza (Jikan Gagga) as the District Head of Bunza (Sarkin Bunza).

The colourful ceremony took place at the Gwandu Emirate Palace, Gwandu, where the revered Emir of Gwandu, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, CFR, formally turbaned Dr. Aminu Haliru Bunza, marking his ascension as the traditional head of Bunza District in Kebbi State.

Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar was among the dignitaries who attended and graced the historic event, underscoring his longstanding relationship and respect for the new District Head and the Gwandu Emirate. It will be recalled that during the official unveiling of Dr. Aminu Haliru Bunza on 19th April, 2025, the NAMA MD had publicly congratulated him on his appointment. He later paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Bunza upon his arrival in Birnin Kebbi, reaffirming his goodwill and support.

Similarly, on Friday, immediately after arriving in Birnin Kebbi, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar proceeded straight to Bunza, where he visited the District Palace to pay homage to the Sarkin Bunza. During the visit, both leaders held discussions on important traditional and community matters ahead of the turbaning ceremony, reflecting their shared commitment to peace, unity, and development of the district.

The NAMA MD commended the Gwandu Emirate Council, under the leadership of HRH Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, and the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, for what he described as the selection of “a round peg in a round hole,” noting that Dr. Aminu Haliru Bunza’s rich professional background, administrative experience, and personal integrity make him well-suited for the revered traditional responsibility.

Engr. Farouk offered prayers for the Sarkin Bunza, asking Allah to grant him long life, wisdom, and strength in the discharge of his duties. He also prayed for lasting peace and harmony in Bunza District, the Gwandu Emirate, Kebbi State, and Nigeria at large, expressing confidence that the new District Head’s leadership would usher in progress and unity for the people.
