NAMA Boss, Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, Honoured for Integrity and Leadership at CECOE Awards 2025

The Centre for Ethical Conduct Orientation and Empowerment (CECOE), a national organisation dedicated to promoting integrity, transparency, and good leadership in Nigeria, has honoured outstanding individuals who embody these values at its National Integrity, Leadership and Development Summit & Awards 2025, held in Abuja.

Among the top awardees was the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, FCA, Dan Majen Gwandu, who received the Award of Exemplary Integrity, Distinguished Service and Social Impact. The recognition celebrates his honest leadership style, ethical values, and contributions to the growth and modernization of air navigation services in the country.

Engr. Farouk also had the honour of serving as Chairman of this year’s historic summit, themed “From Potential to Prosperity: Powering National Development through Ethical Leadership and Institutional Excellence.”

The event, which took place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, brought together some of the nation’s finest minds and leaders in governance, security, and enterprise.

Among the distinguished guests were Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, Chief of Defence Staff; Hon. Leke Abejide, Chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise; and several renowned guest speakers, including Dr. Olasupo Olusi, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, and Dr. Yusuf Kalli Gazali.

Engr. Farouk, who is currently in Saudi Arabia performing the Umrah pilgrimage after leading Nigeria’s delegation alongside the Honourable Minister of Aviation to the ICAO 42nd Assembly in Montreal, Canada, was ably represented by Mr. Abdullahi Musa, NAMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection.

In his remarks, Mr. Musa expressed gratitude to CECOE for recognising the agency’s efforts and the Managing Director’s unwavering commitment to transparency, professionalism, and ethical leadership.

“This award shows that integrity still matters in public service. Engr. Farouk believes that honesty, accountability, and teamwork are key to building a better agency and a better country,” Musa said.

In addition to the award plaque, Engr. Farouk was also decorated as a CECOE Ambassador of Integrity and Ethical Leadership, receiving a medal of honour as a symbol of trust and national pride.

The Nigeria @65 Independence National Integrity, Leadership and Development Summit featured thought-provoking keynote sessions and the prestigious Nigeria @65 Awards, celebrating excellence, leadership, and the integrity values that continue to define the nation’s journey. A special highlight was the recognition of trailblazers whose lives and service inspire the transition of Nigeria “from potential to prosperity.”

This recognition adds to Engr. Farouk’s growing list of honours for his commitment to accountability, service excellence, and nation-building. His leadership continues to inspire many across Nigeria’s aviation sector and beyond, demonstrating that integrity remains the true mark of greatness.
