BREAKING NEWS: Kebbi Welcomes New Private Radio Station

In a significant development for Kebbi State, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alhaji Buhari Bala (OFR), has joined the ranks of Kebbi's patriotic elites by establishing Nagari Radio (88.9 FM), dedicated to public enlightenment and entertainment.

This initiative follows the footsteps of Hon. Usman Buhari Ali Gwandu (Shettiman Garin Gwandu), who pioneered private radio with Haske Community FM Radio in Gwandu town, and former Senator Bala Ibn Na'Allah established Brinkle FM in Zuru town, later former BBC reporter Umar Farouk Musa introduced Vision FM in Birnin Kebbi, and then former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN, established Rayhaan Radio in 2022.

Nagari Radio, situated at Jikah Memorial Plaza, Sir Ahmadu Bello Way, Birnin Kebbi, opposite Kabir Art, aims to be a standard media outlet focusing on informative, educative, and entertaining content. It particularly emphasizes agricultural development programs to motivate Kebbi's youth towards embracing farming as a profession.

The station also pledges to bridge the information gap between the government and the governed. General Manager Ilyasu Abubakar assures that Nagari Radio will diligently report on government developmental projects and advocate for amendments to any policies deemed anti-people.

The station conducted successful test broadcasts in January 2024, with official daily programming scheduled to commence in February 2024, operating from 6:00 am to 12:00 am, Monday to Friday, on 88.9 FM. Kebbi's populace is urged to not only welcome but also actively support Nagari Radio through regular listenership and advertising, as the station aims to meet the needs of its audience and associates.
