HOW TO MAKE KEBBI GREAT

NAMES OF TECHNOCRATS  AND FINE POLITICIANS THAT CAN TRANSFORM KEBBI TO A MODERN STATE

AN OPEN MEMO TO KEBBI GOVERNOR -ELECT

PART ONE (1) :NAMES FROM KEBBI CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICTS

Your Excellency Sir, having done with open letter series, I once again resolved to forward to you an OPEN MEMO as my contribution towards the success of your administration.

Your Excellency Sir, if you decided to rely solely in party consideration to form your cabinet you may find it difficult to perform hence the need for mixture of TECHNOCRATS and FINE POLITICIANS and also listen to good advise from invisible faces like me who have no interest in government patronage but solely the progress and development of Kebbi State.

Your Excellency, it was through this style of open advice,  former Governor of Borno State and present Vice-president elect, *Sen. Kashim Shettima* recognized *Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum* picked him up, and Babagana deployed all his brain in Shettima's administration to the extent Shettima insisted Babagana must succeed him. Borno is now one of the best developing states in Nigeria, courtesy of *GOOD BRAINS.* I hope to see this replicate in Kebbi State. 

*Governor Nasiru El-Rufai* also became successful by using carefully identified young technocrats and politicians, some are not even indigenous persons but people that have ventured into so many areas and facets in life with and recorded successes.

President-elect, *H.E* *BOLA* *AHMED* *TIINUBU* established Lagos State and his political career using *GOOD BRAINS* . Presently, the president-elect has not hidden his intention to form a government of national unity and to involve even people who either opposed his election or contested with him in the party.

 *NOTE* : Each of the 21 local government in Kebbi State have more than *10 GOOD TECHNOCRATS* and *FINE POLITICIANS* capable of holding any important office, but in this memo I will mention 1 or 2 names per local government so that the memo will be as brief as possible.

I decided to forward these names based on 3 senatorial districts in the state for easy digestion; starting with KEBBI CENTRAL.

SUGGESTED NAMES FROM *8* LOCAL GOVERNMENTS OF KEBBI CENTRAL:

1. BIRNIN KEBBI LGA

*i- DR. YUSUF MUHAMMAD ALKALI:* Dr. Alkali; Malaysian trained Taxation guru holds PhD in Accounting and Taxation, he is currently the DEAN School of Accounting, Wazirin Umar Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, he is also a consultant to many State and Federal MDAs and NGOs especially the World Bank related NGOs and projects. Dr. Alkali is one of the major brains behind the success of AGILE Project in Kebbi State. Dr. Alkali is full of brain that can transform Kebbi State to a modern state if given an opportunity.

*ii- ENGR. HON. ABDULLAHI UMAR FAROUQ* (aka  Hon. Muslim).

Hon. Muslim is two in one; a TECHNOCRATS and also a FINE POLITICIAN, his records of achievements when he served as member House of Representatives are still visible and verifiable He is highly intelligent, vocal, and resourceful. Hon. Muslim can make the game change in Kebbi State if given an opportunity.

He was a member of the House of Representatives for two terms and has made some landmark achievements during his tenure, including civil works and youth support interventions. 

2- ALEIRO LGA

*HON. ZAYYANU* *ALEIRO* : Hon. Zayyanu is a man who drives passion and satisfaction when he delivered an assignment given to him. If you like, call him Mr. deliverance; he fit it. Any government ready to deliver can be advised to employ the service of Hon. Zayyanu Aleiro.

3. BUNZA LGA

*HON. ALIYU HALIRU BUNZA* Hon. Aliyu Bunza is an outstanding achiever and dedicated politician who always puts public interest ahead of personal interest. His major mission in politics is the development and progress of his state and community. Thus, the likes of Hon. Bunza is a partner in progress that should be given an opportunity to utilize his brain for the benefits of the state.

4- GWANDU LGA

*HON. (DR) BUHARI USMAN ALI GWANDU* (SHETTIMAN GARIN GWANDU):

Hon. Buhari Usman Gwandu is a brilliant serial and social entrepreneur, a youth promoter and empowerment advocate, an

Internationally recognized development consultant in business development services and economic policy development works whose credentials alone speak large volume. 

I believe that if given an opportunity, he will work on the Kebbi economy and make unemployment and developmental issues in Kebbi State a thing of history. One thing you can not take away from him is that he is very, very good in resource mobilization and deeply connected with the masses.

The talent he demonstrated during his NYSC assignment drew the attention of late President Umar Musa Yar'adua to invite him to Abuja for a dinner and honoured him as the overall best Corps Member in Nigeria, this is after emerging as the best Corps Member in Gombe state where he single-handedly mobilized for resources and implemented 12 heavily funded and jaw-breaking community development projects including constructions, water works, building bridges to connect communities, and many more, this is quite fascinating. He got the title of *Sardauna* from the community before leaving Gombe state.

The former student union president in the university and now a doctorate degree holder (PhD) in Development Studies used the gift of knowledge that Allah gave him in silently laying a good foundation in Kebbi and brought about numerous projects to the government of Kebbi state during the era of Alh Saidu Nasamu Dakingari and of recent in the first tenure of Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, despite not being a cabinet member in both governments. Some of these include the widely beneficial Social Investments Programs, YESSO, and the NDE Special Public Works Programme (774 SPW) comprising of NPower, School Feeding, Cash Transfer, Cash Grant, SOCU, STEM, Trader Moni, Market Moni, etc, etc, etc. These are infact the major visibly programs that helped the economy revolving with over an estimated 600,000 people from the masses and disadvantaged persons, youth, and women.

Back home in Gwandu, he also managed some ICT Centres established by the NCC and NITDA, and also established some centres like the youth resource centre, health counselling centre, and business development centre where over 3,000 youth and women were trained in various skills and empowered with loan facilities across the local government area. He also established the first and only community radio station in Kebbi State, *HASKE FM RADIO STATION 89.1FM,* located in Gwandu.

For the first time in history of the LGA, he singlehandedly supported the APC in Gwandu LGA with renting and furnishing of the party secretariat and payment of an office secretary for a long time. This is in addition to gifting out of over 12 vehicles and over 40 motorcycles to party faithfuls and political allies and influencers, including the LGA party chairman, LGA party women leader, other party officials, physically challenged persons, and many more.

Hence, the decision to confer on him the traditional title of SHETTIMAN GARIN GWANDU by the Gwandu district, and later the GAMJIN GWANDU by the Gwandu emirate. Hon. Buhari will no doubt shape KAURAN GWANDU'S Administration if given an opportunity to serve. 

He also maintains a large network of organisations, youth, and development partners from within and outside the state and country. As the Chairman of Coalition of NGOs in Kebbi State, he revived and brought the network into having over 1,000 registered member organizations from across the 21 LGAs in the state. 

In fact, how Hon Buhari Gwandu disappeared into the thin air is still a mirage, a mystery, and, in fact, an unfortunate situation for the state. We later heard rumours that he is now working with some multilateral organizations in the European nations. What a waste by the state?

This is one young gentleman that KAURAN GWANDU should not allow the "BRAIN DRAIN SYNDROME" to take away from Kebbi state and Nigeria With his combined advantages of being a technocrat and a fine politician, he can be a very good cabinet member or directly under the governors nose to help in coordinating so many economic developmental and social support initiatives.

 5- JEGA LGA

i- HON*. *MURTALA* *MANSUR* *(MURSON)** : Hon. Murtala is a young man fully loaded with progressive ideas. He is relying point to many people in Jega. His load of ideas can propelled any government to a greater heights.

*ii. HON. KABIRU LABBO JEGA*

(AJIYAN JEGA): Hon. Kabiru Labbo is an experience financial expert and successful entrepreneur; he prove to be very competent in public Treasury keeping when he served as Director central Account, I believe he can reprove such competency when ever given an opportunity again.

6. KALGO LGA

*i. HON. ABUBAKAR BAGUDU KALGO*

(DALLATUN KALGO): Dallatun Kalgo is an old block in the building when talking of good governance, he served in many capacity including Director General, Kebbi State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture. He is a technocrat and a good politician as well. Dallatu has a brain to make any government to excell.

7- KOKO-BESSE

*HON SHEHU MUHAMMAD KOKO (SHEHU FARI)* Alhaji Shehu Muhammad aka Shehu Fari is a good politician with human sympathy, he used his personal resources to develop his community especially in Health and education sector. His presence in any government can lead such government to a success.

8. MAIYAMA

*HON NURA BELLO MAIYAMA* Hon. Nura Maiyama is a valuable asset when talking of good governance. I have no hesitation that the likes of Hon. Nura in a government will no doubt  facilitate a lot of development and transformation.

CONCLUSION 

Your Excellency, note that none of these suggested personalities is HUNGRY, JOBLESS, or HALF EDUCATED. They are well established, all they want is the opportunity to  transform Kebbi to a modern state.

Names from KEBBI NORTH and KEBBI SOUTH will be suggested shortly.
