The Haliru Abdu Stadium was filled to capacity today as dignitaries, political leaders, traditional rulers, and thousands of residents gathered to mark the second anniversary of the administration of Governor Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu).
The celebration was vibrant and full of colour, featuring cultural performances, music, and an overwhelming show of public support. Attendees from across the state and beyond came to honour two years of what many described as impactful and people-oriented leadership.
Among the high-profile guests was Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, FNSE, MCOREN, NPOM, Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and traditional titleholder of Danmajen Gwandu and Gamjin Kabi. Engr. Farouk, a respected figure in public service and son-in-law to the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, joined other dignitaries in applauding the administration's developmental strides.
Speaking with journalists, Engr. Farouk highlighted Governor Idris’s accomplishments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and civil service reform.
“The progress we’ve seen in Kebbi State over the past two years is truly commendable. Governor Idris has shown what purposeful and responsive leadership can achieve,” he said.
He further praised the administration’s focus on rural development, agricultural empowerment, and youth inclusion — noting that these initiatives are helping to reposition Kebbi as a hub of growth and stability in the North-West.
In a heartfelt message, Engr. Farouk stated:
“As a proud son of Kebbi State, I have watched with admiration how this administration continues to prioritize the welfare of our people—strengthening institutions, uplifting communities, and laying the foundation for sustainable development.”
He commended Governor Idris’s inclusive approach to governance and his commitment to grassroots empowerment, adding:
“The progress we’ve witnessed under His Excellency’s leadership gives us both hope and pride as citizens of this great state.”
Engr. Farouk concluded his remarks with a prayer:
“May Almighty Allah continue to guide, protect, and grant His Excellency the wisdom to lead with strength, compassion, and integrity.”
The atmosphere at the stadium was lively and unified. Cultural groups delivered vibrant performances, while community leaders and supporters expressed their appreciation for the governor’s achievements. The crowd’s enthusiasm — referred to locally as "agok’" — captured the spirit of the day.
As the celebration came to a close, a common sentiment echoed throughout the stadium: Governor Dr. Nasir Idris has laid a solid foundation, and the people of Kebbi State are optimistic about an even brighter future.
