NAMA Officially Takes Ownership of Navigational Aids Flight Inspection Surveillance (NAFIS) Hangar from NCAA

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has formally taken ownership of the Navigational Aids Flight Inspection Surveillance (NAFIS) Hangar from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in a historic handover ceremony held today at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.  

The event, which commenced at 10:00 AM marked the successful transfer of ownership following a comprehensive verification exercise conducted on March 11 and 12, 2025. This process was meticulously supervised by officials from both agencies to ensure alignment with the asset inventory provided by the NCAA.  

Key figures in this transfer process included Engr. Terese Ijeoma Ihenachor, Director of Safety Electronics and Engineering Services (DSEES), and Mrs. I.R Egbadon, Director of Legal Services/Company Secretary (DLS/CS), NAMA, who played vital roles in the verification and signing of the transfer documents. Senior officials from NAMA’s engineering and legal departments were also actively involved.  

Representing the Federal Ministry of Aviation (FMA), Sarah Okunade (DLS) and Engr. Michael Chukwu (DASA) witnessed the official transfer.  

With this transition, NAMA now assumes full operational control of the NAFIS Hangar significantly enhancing its capacity for efficient airspace management and flight inspection operations. This achievement marks a critical milestone in Nigeria’s aviation sector, reinforcing NAMA’s commitment to excellence in air navigation services.  

This remarkable feat would not have been possible without the visionary leadership and unwavering commitment of the Managing Director/Chief Executive of NAMA, Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, FNSE, MCOREN, NPOM. His dedication to strengthening Nigeria’s air navigation infrastructure has been instrumental in making this transfer a reality.
