KEBBI WOMEN ARE IN RIGHT HAND

MEET HALIMA HASSAN KAMBA, RENOWNED WOMEN RIGHT ACTIVIST TURN COMMISSIONER OF WOMEN AFFAIRS

Having wrote a lot about HALIMA HASSAN YAURI, I found it very imperative to also write about her namesake HALIMA HASSAN KAMBA on the following two grounds;

1- the similarity of the two names and the similarity of their philosophy of women development

2- coincidentally I am bonafide indigene of both Yauri and Kamba.

WHO IS HALIMA HASSAN KAMBA?

 Halima Hassan Kamba needs little or no introduction when talking of civil service, politics and women activism in Kebbi State. She has paid her dues in serving her father's land, political participation and women activism which has spanned over 30 years. She served as Secretary and Sole Administrator to many local governments in Kebbi State, additionally she is one of the longest served Secondary School Principals in Kebbi State.

BIRTH AND EDUCATION BACKGROUND

Halima Hassan Kamba was born on 15th November, 1965, she had her primary education at Tudun Wada primary school, Argungu from 1970 to 1977. She proceeded to Federal Government College, Port Harcourt, Rivers State from 1977 to 1982 where she obtained her SSCE. She moved to University of Sokoto ( Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto) where she obtained her B.Ed (Degree in English) from 1982 to 1986. She also study at University of Pittsburgh, U.S.A. Also in her kits is a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) obtained from Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi in 2006.

 

WORKING EXPERIENCE

Halima Kamba started her working career as a class room teacher at Government Teachers College, Argungu in 1989, she served as a Vice Principal GGSS Kangiwa and later exalted to Principal in same school between 1994 to 1999, she also served as Principal GGSS Augie between 1999 to 2003.

She was appointed Local Government Secretary, Maiyama local government (2003-2004), she also served as Sole Administrator in same Maiyama local government from 2004 to 2005. She later served as local government Secretary in Augie, Birnin Kebbi and Kalgo local governments respectively. Like in Maiyama she also served as Sole Administrator in Birnin Kebbi local government in 2009. She returned to Kebbi State Ministry of Education where she served as Director from 2012 to 2013. Till her appointment as Hon. Commissioner, Kebbi State Ministry of Women Affairs in 2023 she was the Principal GGSC, Argungu.

WORKSHOP AND SEMINAR

Halima Kamba attended many workshops and seminar within and outside Kebbi State.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Halima Hassan Kamba is a member of many prominent associations within and outside the state, she held many positions on women base Association among which is Vice President of National Council of Women society, Kebbi State chapter. She is prominent political and women activist in Kebbi State and beyond.

Taking the above profile of Hon. Commissioner into consideration, one must agree with me that Kebbi State Women are surely in the right hand capable of taking them into greater heights.

LESSON:

It was revealed by a reliable source that Halima Kamba was a class room teacher to Her Excellency, the wife of the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Hajiya Nafisa Nasiru Idris. 

I believe such teacher- student relationship between Halima and her Excellency must have been cordial, had Halima as a teacher treated Her Excellency harshly the story will be different.

It is therefore, advisable to all of us to relate cordially with everyone we come across while discharging our personal and official responsibilities.

I congratulate Halima Hassan Kamba and wishes her a successful tenure as Hon. Commissioner, Kebbi State Ministry of Women Affairs.
