A spin doctor was hired to reply me by some politicians who cannot endure the punchy of my article, precisely Part 8 of the series, fortunate for me, the hype maker end up given me WIDER PUBLICITY. Within a twinkle of an eye my name AHMAD UMAR become a household name in the State. In appreciation of this FREE PUBLICITY, I resolved to reward the guy with CRASH PROGRAMME ON 'TECHNIQUES OF REJOINDER' so that next time he will not repeat such blunder. I also thank God my articles become a source of food to others.

NOW THE CENTRAL COMBAT:

The battle line has been drawn, arms and ammunition procured, troops mobilized, missiles test begin, this is the atmosphere in the Kebbi Central Senatorial District.

 Would any of the two warriors take the path of statemanship and surrender to give  peace a chance to rain?, remain to be seen.

 THE TWO POLITICAL WARLORDS:

Interestingly, Gov. Bagudu and Sen. Aleiro were political enemies in 2011, turned Political friends in 2015/2019 and ahead of 2023 by all indication they may return to 2011 status.

Any one of them failed this election such failure automatically mark the end of his political career that is why I title the article 'DO or DIE'

But alternatively in the other way round, any one of them sacrifices his ambition and willingly WITHDRAW from the race such WITHDRAWAL will Automatically make him the POLITICAL FATHER OF ALL KEBBIANS. (who among them will seize this GOLDEN opportunity?).

Additionally, the duo possess in cash BILLIONS of Naira they don't know what to do with it; they both acquired properties and business empires worth billions of Naira they cannot exhaust till they breath last.

 Therefore, I advice my fellow good people of Kebbi that no one should make a costly mistake of fighting or insulting his friends, neighbor or any fellow citizens in promoting political interest of these gladiators. It is a matter of months to see them joking and dinning in the same table after the election.

Below are brief profile, chances and challenge of the titans:

1-.   H.E, SEN. (DR.) MUHAMMMADU ADAMU ALEIRO

Sen. Adamu Aleiro is graduate of Political science from A.B.U Zaria, he was a Nigeria Customs Officer rising through the ranks to Assistant Comptroller prior to his formal  disengagement in the service, 1997.

Politically Sen. Aleiro is a brilliant Politician, he contested for 6 times won in 5 (1998, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015 and 2019) and lost in 1(2011), ironically he was defeated by same Atiku Bagudu who to tackle in 2023.

FACTORS THAT MAY FAVOUR SEN. ALEIRO

1) Sen. Aleiro's wise decision of granting FINANCIAL AUTONOMY to Local Governments during his terms in office as a Governor help reduce poverty in the state and the credit went streat to his pocket.

2) The wise decision of Sen. Aleiro to decentralize the  distribution of contracts  which resulted in creation of many Millionaires in the state is indeed a favourable factor.

3) Sen. Aleiro's MEGA LEGACY PROJECTS such as State University, Presidential lodge, Secretariat complex etc are good campaign materials that will favour Adamu Aleiro.

4) His investment in the state especially LABANA RICE MILL which became the source of food to many people is another factor that may favour Sen. Aleiro.

FACTORS THAT MAY WORK AGAINST SEN. ALEIRO

1) Many people are tired with the name thus, seeing Sen. Aleiro as greedy; ' who chop and chop and not ready to allow someone to come and chop'.

2) Unless he change party Aleiro is lacking in the control of APC Structure in the state.

3) Most of Aleiro's mate (1999-2007 Governors) have disengaged from local politics, many Kebbians are asking; 'mene ne Baba Aleiro keyi cikin yara har yanzu?'.

SOLUTION TO THE UNFAVORABLE FACTORS

 I stand by my initial advice in Part 1 of this article series that Baba Adamu Aleiro should follow the path of his mate from neighboring state of Zamfara and Sokoto States : Senator Sani Yeriman Bakura and Attahiru Bafarawa by honourably DISENGAGING from local politics and AUTOMATICALLY become a mentor, moderator, motivator, anchor, guidian,coatch, cauncellor, resource person and FATHER TO ALL KEBBIANS.

2- H.E SEN. ATIKU ABUBAKAR BAGUDU

Governor Atiku Bagudu holds two Masters Degree; a Masters Degree in Economics and Masters Degree in International Relations. He worked at Commercial Bank, Central Bank of Nigeria and World Bank.

He is an exceptionally brilliant politician who never fail an election. He contested 4 times and won all ( 2008, 2011, 2015, 2019). Can he maintain the tempo in 2023? The time will tell.

FACTORS THAT MAY FAVOUR GOV. BAGUDU FAVOURABLY:

1) Incumbency power; access to state resources couple with control of security apparatus makes one wins election easily.

2) Gov. Bagudu is almost 100% in control of APC Structure especially the delegates

3) Gov. Atiku's effort in bringing  investors in Kebbi State such as Waccot, Dangote rice Mill along Yauri road, Lolo Rice Mill, Tomato campany in Ngaski among others that created jobs opportunities in the state is good reference point of proud to Gov. ATIKU

4) His achievements in Agriculture especially rice farming will also favour him favourably.

5) His impressive performance in power supply ( electricity) especially in the state capital Birnin Kebbi is good campaign materials for him.

6) Above all, Gov. Bagudu's wise decision to back ABUBAKAR MALAMI, SAN as his successor will favourably work for him.

FACTORS THAT MAY WORK AGAINST GOV. BAGUDU

1) Wrong decision of Gov. Bagudu refusal to grant FINANCIAL AUTONOMY to Local Governments which resulted in poverty in the state may likely work against him.

2) Wrong decision of the Governor  to centralize the distribution of contracts which shoot out many politicians especially APC members from benefiting from the system will pose a challenge to Dan- Bagudu

3) In ability of Governor Bagudu to complete the new Secretariat at Abacha bye pass and failure to put in place at least 2 or 3 additional MEGA LEGACY PROJECTS in the state can hunt him back.

SOLUTION TO GOV. BAGUDU'S UNFAVORABLE FACTORS:

1) In the remaining 1 year plus, Govenor Bagudu should grant FINANCIAL AUTONOMY To Local Governments, this will help in no small measure to make him win any election he involve.

2) Decentralize the awards of contracts, and award contracts to members of his political party  for wealth creation and circulation of fund in the state.

3) As a matter of fact and urgency, Gov. Bagudu should erect at least 2 or 3 MEGA LEGACY PROJECTS before the end of this year 

   OPTIONALLY

- Governor Bagudu can create STATE BASE SOCIAL INVESTMENT PROGRAMME by granting SOFT LOAN and FINANCIAL GRANT to genuine Market women, youth enterprenuer, genuine farmers and other household ready to embark on business. He should earmark N10 billion for this humanity building and when doing so he should set aside his kitchen cabinet and USE GOD-FEARING People to ensure effective implementation of the Project.
