STILL ON KANTA'S IMMORTALIZATION

DEAR KEBBI LEADERS : IT IS TIME TO IMMORTALIZE MUHAMMADU KANTA- THE GREAT

As contributions of the late Emir Yahaya was recognized and immortalized with Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi as well as contributions of late Wazirin Gwandu, Malam Umaru named after Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin-Kebbi, so also the contributions of MUHAMMADU KANTA should be recognized and immortalized in the State Capital, Birnin Kebbi.

BRIEF ABOUT MUHAMMADU KANTA

Muhammmad Kanta, also known as Kanta Kotal was historically a Military General who became the first king and founder of Kebbi Empire. Kanta was the chief in charge of the province of Kebbi, then Under the Songhai Empire under the leadership of ASKIA THE GREAT.

KANTA as a General in the Songhai army was the brain behind the conquest of five most powerful Hausa States (Kano, Gobir, Katsina, Zazzau and Zamfara) and to the larger extent Agadez now in Niger Republic.

Despite Kanta's role in winning the above battle and many others, he was short charged in sharing of booty as such he provoked and rebelled against ASKIA THE GREAT. He declared KEBBI an independent Kingdom and crowned himself the first King of Kebbi Empire.

Numerous attempts and attacks were launched against MUHAMMADU KANTA by Songhai army to take back Kebbi but KANTA defeated them hands down.

BRIEF CONTRIBUTIONS OF KANTA TOWARDS THE UPLIFTMENT OF KEBBI'S IMAGE

 A fearless warrior, MUHAMMADU KANTA made KEBBI the most powerful Hausa State and one of the most powerful kingdoms in the Sahel in 16th century to the extent of attacking and defeating Borno empire. 

Kanta wrote his name as one of the greatest leaders to emerge in the Sahel between the 14th and 16th Centuries.

Kebbi was never defeated either by Songhai or Fulani jihadist during the lifetime of MUHAMMADU KANTA.

HOW HE SHOULD BE IMMORTALIZED

Therefore, in appreciation and recognition of KANTA's bravery role in establishing Kebbi empire which we are all enjoying now, I therefore, gladly suggest the RE-NAMING OF  EITHER OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INSTITUTIONS AFTER MUHAMMADU KANTA:

1- Kebbi Government House- To -MUHAMMADU KANTA HOUSE

2-Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo- To- KANTA UNIVERSITY, BIRNIN KEBBI

3-New Secretariat along Sani Abacha express way- To- MUHAMMMADU KANTA SECRETARIAT

4-Kebbi Medical Center, Kalgo -To- MUHAMMADU KANTA MEDICAL CENTER

5-Presidential Lodge Birnin Kebbi- To- MUHAMMADU KANTA HOUSE

We have nothing to lose by naming one or all of the above institutions after Muhammadu Kanta of blessed memories.

I hope to see Governor Atiku take heed to this suggestions and if time constraint cannot afford him to do so, I am much optimistic his successor Abubakar Malami, SAN will definitely uphold this suggestions.
