NAMA MD, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, FNSE, Graces AFUST Maiden Convocation Ceremony
The Abdullahi Fodio University of Science & Technology (AFUST), Aliero, a state-owned tertiary institution established by the Kebbi State Government, today marked a historic milestone with its Maiden Convocation Ceremony. Named after the renowned Islamic scholar and reformer, Sheikh Abdullahi bn Fodio, brother of the founder of the Sokoto Caliphate, the University has steadily grown since its inception, fostering excellence in science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship, while promoting moral values and community development.
The ceremony witnessed the formal conferment of Degrees, Diplomas, and Certificates to graduands of the 2015/2016 to 2022/2023 academic sessions, alongside special prizes awarded to students who demonstrated outstanding academic achievement.

The event was graced by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, FNSE, FCIA, MCOREN, NPOM (Danmajen Gwandu / Gamjin Kabi). 
Engr. Farouk commended AFUST for its steady infrastructural growth and noted that the University is increasingly becoming a centre of academic excellence in the region. He particularly highlighted the significance of ongoing TETFund-supported projects, praising the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, Executive Governor of Kebbi State, for supporting sustainable development in educational infrastructure and academic facilities.

The ceremony drew several high-profile dignitaries, including the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, His Excellency Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), who served as Special Guest of Honour; Senator Adamu Aliero; the Minister of State, Hon. Yusuf Tanko Sununu; alongside traditional rulers, education leaders, and stakeholders from across the country.

Held at the University Arena, Aliero, the maiden convocation was marked by grandeur, vibrant academic regalia, cultural displays, and enthusiastic participation from families, friends, and the public, reflecting AFUST’s growing stature as a leading institution of higher learning in Northern Nigeria.
