Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar Congratulates Gov. Nasir Idris on Honorary Degree

Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, FNSE, FCIA, MCOREN, NPOM (Danmajen Gwandu / Gamjin Kabi), has congratulated the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, on his conferment with an Honorary Degree of Education by Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA).

He described the honour as well deserved, noting that it recognises Governor Idris’ lifelong dedication to education and human capital development in Nigeria. According to him, the award reflects years of consistent service and commitment to the growth of the education sector.

Engr. Farouk recalled that before becoming governor, Dr. Nasir Idris was a prominent leader of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), where he rose through the ranks and also served in the broader teachers’ union movement. Through these roles, he held several strategic positions and became a strong voice for teachers’ welfare, educational reforms, and improved learning conditions across the country.

He added that Governor Idris’ background as a unionist and education advocate continues to shape his leadership style, with education remaining a key priority in governance. Engr. Farouk prayed for continued strength and wisdom for the governor as he sustains his efforts toward building a knowledgeable and progressive society.
