As the nation prepares to lay former President Muhammadu Buhari to rest today in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar (Danmajen Gwandu / Gamjin Kabi), has joined fellow Nigerians in mourning the loss of the late statesman, whom he described as “a leader who embodied integrity.”

President Buhari passed away in London and is being flown back to Nigeria today, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima. He will be buried according to Islamic rites later today in Daura.

Engr. Farouk shared his condolence message yesterday via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, paying tribute to the former president’s enduring values and legacy.

“With heavy hearts and profound respect, I join the nation and the global community in mourning the passing of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari,” he wrote. “He was more than a leader — he was a symbol of integrity, discipline, and unwavering patriotism.”

He commended the late president’s decades of service to the nation, from his time as a military Head of State to his two-term presidency in a democratic Nigeria.

“His humility, simplicity, and personal sacrifice set a lasting standard for public service,” Engr. Farouk noted. “He inspired generations to believe in values-driven leadership and service above self.”

On behalf of the management and staff of NAMA, he extended heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the government, and all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, reward his sacrifices for Nigeria, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. May his legacy continue to illuminate our path toward a more just, united, and prosperous nation,” he concluded.
